Mirotznik Editing Services

After several years of PhD and post-doctoral work, I decided to apply my research and publishing experience to scientific editing/writing and grant writing support. Since 2000, I have worked on grant proposals, journal manuscripts, conference abstracts, PhD theses and books for numerous researchers around the country. I have also created graphics for books and proposals.
My background makes me uniquely suited for editing and writing in the fields of biology, medicine and engineering. I hold a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland, and a MS and PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. I completed my graduate research in a neuroscience laboratory with a thesis topic that was multidisciplinary, applying engineering concepts to the biology of vision. I then continued as a post-doc and research associate in two laboratories at the National Institute of Neurological Diseases and Stroke at NIH in Bethesda, MD. There I worked first on synaptic transmission and then on retinal waves. During my research years, I learned many techniques (in mathematical modeling, signal processing, data analysis, anatomy, physiology and immunocytochemistry), and published several journal papers (see below).
This experience in research and publishing enables me to adeptly revise and rewrite technical work. I edit for clarity, scientific consistency and overall logical flow of ideas so I can provide you with a document that is coherent and easy to follow and that emphasizes the significance of your research.
Teaching
Co-instruct an upper level biomedical engineering course at the University of Delaware on written and oral communication methods in scientific research, such as preparing journal papers, grant proposals, conference presentations, and dissertations.
